Speeding fines
In built-up areas:
Exceeding the speed limit by 1–10 km/h is a fine of 50 euro.
Exceeding the speed limit by 11–30 km/h is 50 euro for the first 10 km/h plus an additional 10 euro for each additional kilometre.
Exceeding the speed limit by more than 30 km/h is a fine between 60 and 3000 euro and the possibility of having your licence withdrawn for between 8 days and 5 years.
Outside built-up areas:
Exceeding the speed limit by 1–10 km/h is a 50 euro fine.
Exceeding the speed limit by 30–40 km/h could mean you’ll lose your licence for between 8 days and 5 years.
Overspeeding by more than 40 km/h is a fine between 55 and 2750 euro and possibly losing your licence for between 8 days and 5 years.
Do I get penalty points for speeding in Belgium?
No, in Belgium you will not get penalty points for speeding. Instead, drivers in Belgium are charged with a fine and, in the case of a more serious offence, the court may impose a driving ban.
